Even in the jade business for such a long time, it is my first time to see such an amazingly huge jade carving. It is carved out of a whole piece of Chinese Khotan green jade. The original jade material was 2 tons in weight. It took 8 jade carving specialists 10 months to finish this huge carving.
The main part of the carving is China's Great Wall and Shanhaiguan Pass, one of the world's grandest ancient structures as well as the starting point of the Great Wall. The lower parts are people who are on their way to the mountain to pray. The left side is silk road with camels. There are six watchtowers along the Great Wall. The lower black stand is carved with a Chinese poem written by Mr. Huang, Yuanzong, describing the Shanhaiguan and the Great Wall. The back of the carving is also carved with the pattern of mountain and pines.
